Dear Remarkable Women!

This post is to serve as an explanation/apology for any sort of misunderstandings/delays in orders that you may or may not have received,  as well as an update on what is currently going on in “CARUSHKALAND.”

For 5 years now, I have been unable to find a little staff of 1 or 2 to run my SHIPPING, EMAIL CLEANING, and update styles and changes. Oh! Also – ANSWER THE PHONE AND HANDLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

It was I who mostly talked to you.

It was I who found the beautiful fabrics, draped and made some good, some bad ‘FIRST PATTERNS’, then created the final, perfect pattern, only to go into ‘HARD GRADING’, a lost art from the last century. From GRADING a perfect Small, I would then, with great consideration, skill, and focus, create a perfect Medium, Large, and Extra Large. I’d be the one to take inventory and input them into the computer at 3AM, who folded, wrapped, and taped them all to be sent out individually to all of my customers (6 figures over a period of 2 years).

Silver Rocker for the Holidays
I’d beg for help from the staff of 1 or 2, who’d come up with an excuse each time: “NO, because ______.” So, back to my design room I’d go, where I cut, sew, iron, and fit, my last step. I hate this part the most, cutting out fit samples. I truly enjoy cutting out something else though: a much appreciated customer’s “Special Order”. With not much available time anymore, I set my alarm to go off at 2-3AM to get up and cut, in pure silence (except for the sound of very soft classical music – or that of angels), finally alone with my maker and my gift, to honor YOU, my most remarkable women.

Back to work! I was not happy with my last 2 websites. So, at this point, I will try to learn to SHIP, PHOTOSHOP, create NEWS LETTERS, etc.. I have already taught myself the rest, learning from the mistakes made by others, at my expense.

New "Fig" colored stretch-velvet Jucko Jacket!
I have listened to all of you and created the designs that you have wished for. I want to thank you for standing by my side through these difficult times, and for not giving up on me. My most recent creations are the new purple/fig stretch velvet New York pants, Suzette bra, and matching Jucko jacket. They are available now for your enjoyment!

Amazon Makes Fake Carushka Suzette Bra

Once upon a time, in the land of artificial living, Hollywood!, the breast enhancement fad, stopped!

Apparently, some news came out about relating this procedure with cancer! And there was the athletic woman who wanted to look "really sexy" without possibly damaging her body.

So many women wrote to me for an answer and new design. And in 1995, I created "The Suzette" push up bra! I simply draped it, only once, which is unheard of while trying to create a brand new "fit pattern"! First seen on beautiful model, "Angelica," with red hair. Then it became immortalized by "Brooke Long," as well as "Joey House." It was so popular that I have a patent on this bra! So... don't be fooled by the copy of MY "Brooke Long" wearing my "Suzette" on!

For 10 years I have been after them to take down this FAKE! But I am a small company now & Amazon is VERY big! How funny that 11 years ago, I asked if I could sell on Amazon and they said, NO! I asked why? And I was told they didnt know why, but that their bosses said "NO." So within a year, my most popular style is being sold on Amazon, using my model (Scanned from one of my catalogs) and calling it "CARUSHKA'S" Famous Suzette Bra! This is MINE! For 10 years they have been doing a pattern, plus Trademark piracy (thief). Why Amazon??? I thought you were better than this!

Life, laughter and leading people into the light

My niece Danuta was on break from college and I wanted to really enjoy her company. We started with a day of spa and shopping. Then she wanted to meet a certain male friend of mine, so we got all dressed up (I loaned her some of my best jewelry) and had a limo take us to the Hotel Bel-Air for a fabulous dinner. Afterwards, we all went back to my house for some intimate late night swimming. We laughed all night and for the next several days. I showed them a way to live without fear or rules, and how to let go and gain confidence. It was a great time for all of us.

Here's to Julie & Julia

I recently saw the movie Julie & Julia with Meryl Streep and loved it. It made me want to get back in the kitchen and start cooking again. In the early 1990s, I would have a dinner party every week. The only problem was that when I would cut onions, I had to wear a snorkel to fend off the fumes. One evening I was called to the table by my guests while I was still wearing my snorkel. As a gag, I decided to leave it on for the rest of the dinner. Prosit!

How do you get an elephant off your back!

I just got my medical bills for some routine check-ups. I recently changed my insurance to a PPO that was supposed to be a better plan. To my utter shock, the bills were over $10,000 and my insurance only paid 10 percent! This means I'll have to get on the phone with the PPO and dispute the billing. If this was a movie, it would be Erin Brockovich meets Sicko. I can certainly see why so many people are angry about healthcare in America. Either they don't have insurance or they are paying extremely high premiums and still have to fork over enormous out of pocket payments. I am feeling first hand the sting of the healthcare crisis and feel completely betrayed. More and more, I am turning to alternative medicine, herbs and other natural treatments.
I get more hands-on care from the practitioners and it costs me less money. I can see why all the movie stars have a second home in France!

Here Comes the Judge

There is some speculation that Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens, a staunch liberal, will retire next year. Stevens, who is 89, was appointed by President Gerald Ford in 1975 and is the second-oldest justice in the court's history after Oliver Wendell Holmes. If Stevens does step down, President Barack Obama will have his second high court opening in two years. Obama chose Justice Sonia Sotomayor, who is considered more of a moderate, for the court when Justice David Souter announced his retirement in May. My husband thinks the President should appoint me to replace Stevens, because I'm just what this country needs - a good Polish liberal!

Happy Feet

I had two really good medical check ups, so now I’m ready to start something new! I have always loved to dance, so I’m getting back into my Tango and Swing dancing classes. I can do all the complicated Swing steps, but when it comes to Salsa rhythms, I just can’t get into the groove. It must be my Polish hips!
